wedding in Dumbo — two grooms, modern style, no traditions. we started with indie pop for the ceremony, flipped to old-school funk and 2000s hip-hop for the party. groom’s mom danced to OutKast like she was 25 again.
in the West Village, a queer couple had a vintage-themed wedding. vinyl-style playlist, smooth transitions, and a mix of Stevie Nicks, Robyn, and remixes from queer artists. it felt like a house party, in the best way.
Bushwick wedding — backyard, DIY-style. bride + bride came down the aisle to a slow acoustic version of “Electric Feel.” reception turned into a dance tent with disco, house, and a touch of Latin. real queer energy. real good time.
most DJs follow a script. “first dance, father-daughter, bouquet, garter, blah blah.” but same-sex weddings don’t always follow that flow — and that’s the beauty of it. you’re free to create your own script.
